i know i've been out of contact for a while (but what's new, ne?) but i've been a bit busy. se, i have been seeing this really nice japanese girl for about a month and a half or so now. she comes over to my house a lot after work and usually stays until last train. like tonight. see, i've been a bit sick for the last few days and she wanted to come over and look in on me. we talked and hung out and, while i was finishing my dinner, she cleaned my apartment a bit. she's great. she cleans my apartment, gives me a hummer then decides it's time for her to go home. jesus, japan is great. i actually wish she'd stick around for a little longer, though....

ok, so i'm in america again. flight was long and travel was tiring, but is all good.

before i left, however, i discovered yet again that japanese women are shallow and and not to be trusted/liked. i hate japanese culture sometimes.... sorry to my japanese friends that read this, just venting a bit.

well. i have been super bust these last few days. it all started when my coworker got massively sick and had to cancel out her classes for the whole week. that means a harder work load for us because we had to pick up some extra classes. so, add one to my class load per day and that's about the average for the week. then, on thursday, our regional manager and the president of the company decided it wouold be a great idea for them to hold job interviews at our school. so, about 6 hours of stress from them. also, on thursday, i taught my first kids lesson. it was only one kid, a boy, and he is 5 years old. he was good and listened to me when i got the "i'm an angry teacher" voice because he ran around too much. but he;s sharp and picks up on things real well. but, guess what he asked me. it was in japanese, but he asked me why i am bald. little brat........

then, tonight, i was supposed to go out with some students and then to a party later. well, that got put on hold because i finally managed to ask out this girl i've had a crush on for a while and she agreed to meet me tonight after work. she was a bit late getting to me because there was a party at her work she couldn't just leave. but, due to some confusion about where we would meet, i saw her run past me in the subway station and head up to where she thought we'd meet. after i caught up with her, we headed out to Buddy Buddy and chilled for a bit. her english isn't so great but we managed to have a good conversation for about 4 1/2 hours. i asked to meet her again before i head to the states and she said she was really busy but i should email her. so, i'm gonna fight for this one. her name is Sayaka.

ok people, sorry for the late posting of this stuff but there were some complications. as it turns out, the reason i had so much trouble was because the time of my return to japan is during one of the peak periods of travel here. so, my original seat on the return flight was a standby seat. and i didn't get it. so, at MUCH expense, i shifted things around and now have a final itenerary:

i'll be leaving sapporo at 7:45 on the 23rd and, after a transfer in tokyo, land in houston at 9:45 on the 23rd. odd, huh? 2 hours to fly around the world. the wonders of modern technology!!! ;) but after a bit of a layover in texas, i'll get to atlanta at 15:25. from there, i expect i'll be totally beat and want to sleep for a while and probably will on the ride to knoxville. i think i'll stay in k-town for 4 or 5 days or so then head out to the boro. then go back to knoxville on the 5th about and get the ride out of atlanta butt ass early on the 7th.

but, the timing really is quite malleable. i could head over to the boro earlier if it's more convenient for the peeps but i MUST spend some time in knoxville at some point. i don't feel like testing the wrath of my mother and i suspect none of you do either. if i don't spend time with her, she WILL kill all of us. those of you that know her know this to be true.

but that's it. so, when is best for all parties?

well, there isn't really too much to report. things are consistant and normal, for now. i'm a bit hung over due to Rochelle's going away party last night and my brain is still recovering.... had alot of fun at the party though, talked to alot of people and sang a bit at karaoke. the weather is getting warmer, too. hooray for spring!

but the main purpose of this post is to say i have the pics up from new years and my abashiri/shiretoko trip. i also added some commentary on a few of the previous albums. so, if you haven't seen the pics yet or if it's been a while, go look!

as i sit here waiting to eat lunch with Seki, i reflect on the last few weeks.....

the biggest news is that my school will switch up patrons come march. as in we will still teach all our regular students, now we just have the added bonus of kids. that's right, i'll have to teach kids soon. fucking kids.......

my geekiness has attained higher and more depraved levels. last weekend, i competed in a magic tournament. yup, that's right. japan has officially turned me into an otaku. BUT, i have 2 defenses for my normalicy/non-neerdiness. 1: i was supposed to go to another tournament today but i was still passed out from the alcohol and 2: it's helping me with my japanese, dammit! especially since the last block that came out was japanese themed and the japanese cards are in kanji. i remember the words for spring, night/evening, star, autumn and others i can't remember right now because i play magic. it's a learning tool, dammit!!! and i even placed in the tournament!

oh, and my internet is back up. woohoo!

dudes, i had an awesome new years. first jim and mayumi came to visit and all was well. mayumi stayed a bit aloof during her stay here, but she had other people to see and got sick besides. btw, sorry i didn`t go to the airport mayumi. you know, work and all.....

and mayumi`s parents love me and jim more than her. see, in japan, it`s common for parents to give their children money during new years. jim and i both got 3,000 yen. how much did mayumi get? a big, we don`t love you anymore 0! ha!! they also treated us all to a free buffet dinner. a good sort, really.

the first couple nights of jim`s visit, we tried to match our drinking volume to that of germany two years prior. we succeded to a fair degree then realized that we are older and japan is much more expensive.... after the opening volleys, we tapered out our drinking a bit and still had a great time. i made him eat jinges kahn (lamb bbq), sing karaoke, get terribly embaressed in public (several times), stop apologizing and hang out with japanese people. he even went out with the staff from famous door without me a few times. stupid job........

chris and i basically just prowled around town for a bit. rater reminiscent of our time in korea, actually. except this time, we had to physically carry a wee chinese girl to keep her from hurting herelf on the ice.

i`d have to say the mainstays of the entire vacation were the DIX establishments (famous door and buddy buddy). ahh, good times, ne? beer, arm wrestling, beer, darts, beer, drunken japanese people at the end of the year party, beer and beer. you know, the necessities. oh, and cigarettes. jim, i shall NEVER allow you to quit!! we`re gonna be neighbors in the cancer ward, just accept it and enjoy.

now, the bad parts of the vacation:
#1 having jim turn my apartment into an even larger biohazard. i know there is some adjustment time necessary for a new diet, but DAMN! i at least once had to run from my own apartment, eyes streaming and holding my breath. i think my blanket is still radioactive.... oh, and that odd piece of crusted something you found on the floor before you left? beef jerkey. i know who DIDN`T eat jerkey, and it ain`t not me. i must say, though, that there is a sense of security knowing the laws of the universe are still in effect.

#2 the toilet paper holder. damn you!!!!...........

#3 proving to be a bad tour guide and taking people to the very wrong place to eat jinges kahn. sorry, chris.... hopefully buddy buddy asuaged the loss.

#4 seeing mayumi`s terribly messy room. ;)

#5 i had to fucking work with peeps in town.

but i guess the last one can`t be avoided. the hazards of not being a student, i suppose. damn you all.....

and now, i can sit in my quiet apartment again with my bowl of rice and Heroes 4. all i need is some super glue and an industrial vat of febreeze and all will be well. bastard........

ok, the Obon pics re up. go look!

god, i love weekends. saturday nights are just too much fun. sat is my "drunk night" and i always go out and have a great time. take last night, for example. took Kanako (new teacher) out to Susukino and met up with Burke and Jon. went to Viva (Australian bar) and got the hookup on stiff drinks. i know the bartender, Yuko. after about an hour there, we went over to the infamous Booty and stayed for about 4 hours.

inside Booty, i ran into rosemary and hung out with her for a bit. then i saw Jen, a girl that i had previously encountered a few weeks ago. we then went down to the dance floor and proceeded to dirty dance for a good little bit. i think i might have found a love for dancing..... then i went back upstairs and found Kanako and Burke ... not flirting exactly but they were terribly cute.

we left at about 4am or so and dropped Burke off at his apartment. then we took the cab to Kanako's place and we had a brief but intense snowball fight. i only got 3 shots in: 2 misses and the last one to her teeth. WINNER! then i walked home through the blizzard (the snow is FINALLY building up), which was actually quite fun. i only live about 3 blocks from Kanako so i didn't have enough time to get too frozen. and the best part? i still have 2 days of weekend. WOOT!

today, i'm going to go eat well at Rochelle's place in honor of Steve's 26th. ahhh, 'tis good.

bah, one of those days. had a dream last night that depressed me a bit. can't recall exactly what it was but when i woke up i didn't want to get up for work. things didn't really get too much better at work; my head teacher's last day is tomorrow and i had to write my bit on a going away card and scramble for a present. luckily i only had 3 classes today, though. the last was a bit of a disaster. the students had trouble understanding what should have been easy for them and one of them (a very strong-minded woman) looked at me like i was stupid because she made a mistake and i was too nice too point it out to her.

is it odd that, if i'm having a bad day, i like to stay at work and not think about anything while i prepare lessons? just me, a semi-empty teacher's room, some markers, paper, textbooks and a cup of coffee. does that make me a workaholic? i just wish i could smoke in the school....

i backed out on the weekly sushi night to work and come home earlier than i would have if i had gone to sushi. just wanted to veg out for a bit so i bought a bento at Lawsons and popped in a random Farscape cd. dammit, now i have to watch all of the series. well, all that exists, anyway. and now, i smoke the day's last cigarette and try to shut off my brain so i can have the energy to cope with the huge day ahead (5 classes, Miyuki's last day, Kanako's first real day, crazy last minute shopping) then drink booze. ahh yes, lots and lots of booze.

dammit, i'm running low on money this month, too. stoopid $400 hospital bill. stoopid internet bill. stoopid expensive presents. stoopid alcohol. stoopid cody..........

hey peeps, how was thanksgiving? err, wait. have you had it yet? well, anyway, mine was good. every year, norie and her husband have a thanksgiving party at their apartment and we eats well. had turkey, shyabu shyabu, banana crean pie, wine, pumpkin pie, kick-ass bread, paglia and, of course, turkey. it was a rather good evening, i'd say.

i have been downloading more music. found a really good tune by dj shadow: six days. you should all get it too. DO IT!

well, bed time. have to wake up early to go see what the doc has for me. yay.

sigh. i have really inherited some great genes from my father, i tell you. over the last few years, my heart has had a few hiccups and palpitations. recently, however, it has hit me a little more frrequently. so, i decided to go to the doctor to get it checked out. after $400 worth of xrays and tests (who says socialized healthcare is cheap?!), they told me i have a little larger than average heart and a coincidingly thinner inner-heart wall. the average size is about 10cm, mine is 7.1.

i'm hooked up to a take-home ekg thingy and it's a bit uncomfortable. they say if the tests come out in the worst possible scenerio, i'll have to take some meds. but not to worry, the meds are light and it's unlikely i'll need them. the worst part was when they had to shave my chest....... yet another wonderful trait inherited from my accursed father! damn stoopid genetics..........

so, thanks to my wonderful coworker chris, i have found a new (old really, but it`s been a while) way to spend time and mioney. any of you know that there was a new magic block that was released a month or so ago? it`s really niffty and i have most of the cards! sigh. but hey, after a big dissappointment on the female front, i needed to wallow in geekiness and i had no computer to facilitate such an outlet. and now, i am trapped. stoopid addicting fucking game.... i have some nice cards, though! woo hoo!!!

ok, so, i tried to reinstall xp over top of itself. i ended with a blue screen telling me that i had some sort of registry trouble. so, i tried to uninstall first then give it a go. but, now, windows won`t boot from the harddrive. i tried going into command prompt and it gave me anothr blue screen. so, now, my computer is fucked on a fundamental level and there is no bringing it back short of a trip to the shop to see if they can patch it back together. and that`s a maybe.

got some emails from my mom with pics displaying the damage to my grandparent`s and uncle`s houses.

my japanese is still shit and the studying is slow going.

the Door is closed today.

well FUCK. not a terribly good day for me. others are having a worse time of it right now, though, so i`ll not complain too much.... just needed to say fuck and shit, really.

so i managed to beat my computer into submission long enough to watch advent children. and damn. i mean, damn. i really want to play ff7 now too. stoopid computer.......

i think that probally the best part about the movie (aside from the score) was that i knew all the places the action took place in and could pick up on little things that someone who never played the game would miss. like the fact that all the played characters wear ribbons. even marlene. and the limit breaks.

i do have a few complaints, though. first is that, while he is cool, cloud isn't so cool that the other characters should get only about 10 minutes of screen time. except tifa, she gets a fair bit, but still.... the other 2 complaints i can't really mention without giving at least a little bit away so i'll save them for later.

but everyone, if you haven't seen this movie, WATCH IT!!!!!!
